Playground and other adventures

Grady was in a great mood this week.  He's been continuing with his fake laughs and his language is blossoming.  His vocabulary now consists of cat (tat), dog (tat - hey, close enough), shoe (shu), sock (sah), tree (turrr), and still possibly duck (duh).  He is definitely signing all done - both when finished eating and when we come to the end of a book.  Conspicuously absent?  Mama and Dada.  We'll pick our battles.

The funniest thing that Grady is doing is blowing kisses.  He basically just screams really loud (MMMMMAAAAAAAGH) while moving his hand from his mouth into the air.  I cannot ever get it on tape but I will keep trying.

During the week this week, I opened up the cabinet with the pots and pans, gave Grady a whisk, and sat back to watch the show.

Not quite sure what to make of this yet.

NOW he is!

Grady also enjoyed playing with this blue tupperware lid.

He found it as amusing when mommy put this up to her face.

On Friday, we got to have a short playdate with Grady and Rose.  They seem to have moved beyond the infamous boob grab/slap in the face incident, and played quite nicely together with Grady's table.

Rose is a genius, able to find her belly button, her nose, do a number of signs, and tuck stuffed animals into bed for the night!  Don't worry - she's two weeks older than Grady, so he's got time....

Saturday was quite an adventurous day.  Matt drove down to the track for a track work out, and while he was there someone broke into our car.  Luckily all that was taken was the diaper bag (poor guy who broke in must have been pretty badly disappointed to have found only some diapers, a change of clothes, and Grady's vaccination records).  Matt spent the morning and some of the afternoon figuring out insurance, scheduling a window repair, vacuuming out the car, and doing some handiwork with the window.

I was running a race on Sunday and needed to do number pickup on Saturday, so Grady and I went down to the Convention Center on Grady's first bus trip!

What a big boy!  He didn't love the experience, but was placated by some animal crackers.

Sunday was the race.  I had originally signed up for a half marathon, but came to my senses and switched to the 10K a few weeks ago.  The weather was perfect for a race, and it was a well-organized course.  I was hoping to finish in 54 minutes, and ended up finishing in 51:30 or so, so I was pleased.  Matt and Grady made it over to the finish line just as I finished - what great timing!

After the race, we had a super fun trip to the playground.

We spent a little time on the swing before heading over to the play structures.

The structures were perfect for Grady to pull up on.

The most fun though was the slide!  First we went down together.
But Grady did just fine going down by himself!

He had so much fun he kept trying to climb back up!

Grady turns ONE YEAR old on Friday!  We are so excited for all four grandparents to come out to visit and celebrate with us!
