Father-Son Weekend

Mommy's been gone for a little over 24 hours now and boy do we miss her!  So far, we are managing to hold down the fort here and Grady has been on his best behavior all day today.  As is often the case, the best moments of the day aren't necessarily the ones caught on film, but Grady managed to save plenty of smiles for the camera.

We spent the early part of the morning playing in most of the downstairs rooms, with the cats joining in to both play and help babysit.  Grady had an especially good time playing with the refrigerator magnets in the kitchen.

Later in the morning, Grady took a bath and got dressed up to go out and take in some live music.  Here he is waiting very patiently in his circle for Daddy to get ready:

We saw an acoustic duo called The Snail People, and were duly impressed.  Unfortunately I had trouble getting some good pictures, but here is one shot of Grady taking it all in:
After a 1 hour 45 minute nap (wow!), Grady ate a very healthy lunch which included practically inhaling 1/2 an avocado, a few pieces of apricot, and some raisin bran muffin.  (Mommy left us well stocked with some really good treats, and Grandpa Walt's raisin bran muffin recipe is the best!)  Daddy was much too nervous about food getting on the floor & Grady's clothes during this time to take any pictures.

After lunch, we went for a long walk around the neighborhood and ended up at the park.  It was drizzly and gray for the beginning of the walk, but by the time we arrived at the park the sky was blue and the sun was out.  Grady seemed extra excited to go swinging today as he laughed almost the whole time!

And since I know no one will believe that it was bright and sunny in Portland on March 5, here are some posed shots as proof:
Tonight before bedtime (when the cameras weren't rolling), I'm pretty sure Grady crawled a couple of "steps".  He is often on his hand and knees, but usually as a transition from his trusty army crawl to either sitting or climbing up on something.  When he wants to move forward, he always flattens out and starts to scoot.  But tonight he was on his hands and knees and wanted to reach for a toy a couple of feet away.  Instead of flattening out, he moved forward on his hands and knees!
